Dean,
I notice you have the H4n in your bag on this tip and some of your other videos. Why do you choose to use the H4n over some of the other portable recording devices out there like the DR-100mkII? Thanks in advance!
Adam, the main reason I use the H4n is when I tried flash drive recorders the H4n worked perfectly. The one I carry has been in some very harsh conditions and has never let me down – that’s huge in my books. There will always be new gear with cool features and higher recording quality, but the first time you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and your recorder locks up, you’ll be wishing you had the old work horse.
I went through the DAT recorder era, I’m bald from it! For me, proven reliability is key. I still use Sennheiser G2 wires not because I can’t afford lectors but they’ve never failed me.
