    Hi Dean,
I bought a copy of your book “location audio simplified” and I must say thank you for the amount of detailed information that you give in the book. I don’t think I spent the money, I invested it. There is a thing that I would like to ask you since I had to buy the printed version because I don’t have an IPad. Is there any way that I can get access to the videos from without buying an IPad?
    Thanks again for the inspiration,

Thanks Eduardo, I’m glad LAS is helping you with your recordings. I can see you’ve seen some of the posted videos from the iBook, that’s it for videos for now…. But, we are discussing an online course to assist the teaching in Location Audio Simplified.

Hello Dean. I too don’t have an Ipad but I see that you have your new vimeo course. Does the vimeo course have more information than your ibook?

It has quite a bit more information then both the book and iBooks. In the Location Audio Simplified course I flush out the operating procedures more and have more examples to help you better understand. It’s the full location audio course I used to teach – there’s a ton of information in it!

Hello Dean. So I just bought myself a 552 and I’m looking to buy lectrosonic wireless kit. However, there are no good information about it online. Does your course teach lectrosonics in depth? Also, I know I want to rent your vimeo course… I just don’t know when. Should I wait to get all the gear then watch your course so I can practice at the same time?

Hi Victor, I don’t go into the specifics of any wireless system – they’re all basically the same. I focus on how to get the most out of an RF system and the idiosyncrasies of each brand is left up to the operator to figure out. There’s more then enough information wireless systems for you to setup and operate your lector’s properly.

Regarding signing up for the course before you own all your gear. If you’ve got a mixer, shotgun, and boom pole, you’re ready to go and you’ll be able to move through 90% of the classes. Wireless system and body micing happen in the later classes. I also don’t think you’ll go through the course only once. I learned from teaching, people learn in different ways, some need hands on some don’t – it’s your call.

So you know Victor, right now there’s $75 off for the next 5 people who sign up.
            I hope this helps.

Hey Dean, i m writing from Uruguay South America. Big fan of your book and blog. I just found out about your iBook and was interested in buying it but it is not available in the uruguayan Apple store. Is there any other way to get the courses?

I will be purchasing your class. Lots to learn. So far, my limited recording is only to help with community projects.

    2 questions
    1) from Roland Comfort shows setup from SD 302 to Zoom H4. I have the 302 but a Zoom H6. Any changes to his setup that you recommend would be helpful. He gets a bit loud near the end of vid.
    2) Do you ever have classes in Vancouver?

Hi Jack, Roland knows what he’s doing. I’m not familiar with the 302 settings but he’s all over making sure you never distort your recorder. Yes he gets a little crunchy when he switches over to the audio he recorded on the zoom, even when he shouts, but it’s all sounds perfectly usable.

I’m living in Sweden right now so not much chance of a course in Van, but I’ll drop you an email if one comes up.

Dean, I’m looking to rent your Vimeo course. Do you cover timecode at all? I have no experience with it and am confused about what device to use as a master (slate? mixer?), how to hook up devices to each other for sync, what cables are needed, etc. Thanks.

Hi Patrick, Sorry for taking so long to respond. We had Word press issues and we weren’t getting any mail through. If you haven’t already solved your issue, here are my thoughts.

I don’t cover any time code in my course. Since I’m not a multi-cam sound op I go old-school and it always works. I do cover how I handle sync in both my book and online course.
